MARS.2 (Raymond Salles type 1.880), used for English mail packets via the Suez route, processed aboard the Marseille ambulant postal service no. 2. A postal history item of significant interest, especially as the use of this marking ceased in December 1871 due to the disruption of British maritime routes following the outbreak of the Franco-Prussian War.
