cancelled by clear Checkiang Tinghai cds. This stamp was originally part of the 1956 Special Issue 15 series titled "Capital Landmarks", designed by Shao Bolin. It features Tiananmen bathed in radiant light at dawn, symbolizing the bright future of New China. However, the rays above Tiananmen were controversially interpreted by some reviewers as resembling a nuclear explosion, leading to its withdrawal just before the official release.Despite the urgent recall, a small number of stamps were sold in areas like Dinghai, Zhejiang, before the notice arrived. It is estimated that fewer than 700 genuine copies ever reached the public. This particular stamp bears a clear postmark from Dinghai, making it an exceptionally rare example with significant historical and philatelic value. With American Philatelic Society Certification.
