an original press photograph reporting the death of General Chang Tso-lin, Manchurian warlord and former ruler of North China, who died from wounds after his train was bombed in May. The image confirmed his death and marked the rise of his son Chang Hsiao-liang (Zhang Xueliang) as successor.
Guo Songling was executed by Zhang Zuolin after his anti-Fengtian campaign failed. His body was exposed in Fengtian City for three days from December 25 to 27, 1925.
depicting the Anhui clique leader in military uniform, printed in sepia tone. A finely produced early Republican-era portrait postcard of the influential Beiyang general and statesman, reflecting the military-political character of the time.
