1897 (Feb 2) a shocking First Day Cover of Chinese Imperial Post, bearing Dowager surch. 1c pair,
canceled by Kiukiang Pakua mark (1st C.I.P. postmark), bearing at lower left Customs Kiukiang cds. in red, sent to Shanghai with Customs Shanghai arrival cds. in brown on reverse. Universally the 1st day of C.I.P. was believed as Jan 2, 1897, but was actually Feb 2 corrected by Mr. Mizuhara. This is the invaluable postal history item of C.I.P. Ex.
